Wow, the 2015-2016 school year is upon us.  It is with great excitement and pride that I am a member of the Woodroe Petty Elementary staff.  I graduated from San Diego, Texas in 1970 and got my Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas State University in San Marcos in December 1973. I have taught in Hebbronville ISD, Austin ISD, Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco ISD, Gregory-Portland ISD, but the majority of my teaching career has been here in Taft.  If you add all those years, I have been in education for 41 years.  I continued my education and got my Elementary Certificate and my Masters in Reading and Early Childhood Education from Texas A&M Kingsville and then my counselling certification from Texas A&M Corpus Christi.  As a school counselor it is my philosophy that a happy child will do better in school.  I am an avid advocate for students, making sure that their emotional well- being is at their best so they can be successful in school.  I work in conjunction with teachers, parents and students to help students succeed by providing programs within the school to help them achieve.
